alert for drivers in virginia. major changes will take effect at one of the busiest sberks in ties -- sberks in -- intersections in tysons corner. natasha barrett is waiting to update us. >> there are a lot of changes going on here. i drive through this area a lot. i went to the redskins game, and i saw the big sign, and i thought, what's going on here? we're talking about the area near international drive in tysons corner. this area has been under construction for so long, we have all been dealing with it. here's another change. it basically affects the ramp off camebridge road. route 123, going in the direction of reston and wolf trap, that's shut down. the new exit is off 123 to the frontage road. this is because of the ongoing issues of building the metro out here in the depul dulles area. get this -- it started friday night. you will notice the change come -- this morning coming in and out of the area. the change goes all the way through the end of this year. live from tysons corner, natasha barrett, abc news. >>> it is easier to get to interstate 95 in northern virginia. the

days, virginia is scheduled to execute its first woman in nearly one century, in one decision that could save her life. we begin with a case that is making headlines across the country. later this week, the virginia woman is said to be executed by lethal injection. the circumstances surrounding her case, are creating quite a controversy, and they have filed with the u.s. supreme court. richard reeve is live. >> the attorney for her once the high court to take a look. it is a fascinating case of murder for hire dating back to 2002. the death row inmate has just days to live now. she is scheduled to die by lethal injection on thursday. but she is as evil a person as i have ever met. -- >> she is as evil a person as i have ever met. >> she is accused of masterminding the death of two people. >> i am sorry for all of the people i have heard. >> authorities say she planned the killings in order to collect $250,000 in insurance money. she talked about her request for clemency and life sentence. >> how sorry i really am. this happened to people i love very much. >> she did not shoot

the metal detector in place. >> thank you. and our team coverage continues in arlington, virginia, where neighbors of the gunman and his mother spoke with jackie who join us on the phone. what are you hearing? >> reporter: not exactly the type of thing you would expect to encounter in a situation like this. when the neighbors learned of the name of the suspect and the victim in this shooting, they basically reacted by bursting into tears. they knew mr. davis and his mother who was in her 90s. he was well known in this neighborhood for the exquisite pair they say that he took of his mother who has apparently something very alzheimer's-like. she would wander off. and everyone in the neighborhood respected him very, vy much for the care that he took of his mother. so they are very shocked by this. horrified. th certainly say they don't believe there is anything that would condone doing this. as one neighbor told me, this is the la man in the world i would ever expt to do this. when we get more information, we have interviews with neighbors and things like, that i will bring those to you as

just say that soon after the incident at virginia tech we recognized that we needed to put together a response plan. in order to develop this plan, we would need some guidance and training and we turned to our partners at the baltimore police department who were more than willing to step up and help us put together a response. and a strategy. part of that strategy is the sending of text messages to hopkins employees that an insurance dents has occurred, what the incident is and giving them information on what to do. security, the security forces responded to the location and they moved to protect the staff, the patients, and to isolate the suspect. and to hold their ground until the police department responded. we have shifted resources, the employees who are deployed at the exterior part of the campus and the call was made to 9-1-1 and the immediate response took place. i heard a question about visit visitors. state law requires all staff members to have an i.d. badge and all visitors are given a wristband at the security desk. we go through about 80,000 wristbands a week. you do t
